Breeder Requirements
At LocalPets, we have a zero-tolerance policy for puppy farming and unethical breeding. All advertisers must adhere to the following:
ID Verification
Council-licensed breeders must provide a valid license. For hobby breeders, ID verification is optional but highly recommended to build trust with potential buyers.
Age Requirements
Puppies can be advertised before 8 weeks of age, but they must NOT leave for their new homes until they are at least 8 weeks old.
Mum's Presence
Buyers must always be shown the puppy with its mother in the environment where it was born.
Health Records
Every advert must include details of vet checks, microchipping, and vaccination history.
Payments & Refunds
Boost payments (£9.99 / £19.99) are non-refundable if an advert is found to be in breach of our Animal Welfare standards. By paying for a boost, you agree that maintaining platform safety is our priority. If your account is suspended for policy violations, all active boosts will be terminated without compensation.
Buyer Protection
We work hard to filter out scammers, but you should always stay vigilant:
- Never pay a deposit until you have seen the puppy in person.
- Use the Secure Chat: Keep your conversations on LocalPets to ensure there is a record of your agreement.
- Report Concerns: If a listing feels "too good to be true" or the conditions look poor, use the "Report Advert" button immediately.
- Ask for Papers: Ensure you receive all microchip transfer documents and health certificates before taking your puppy home.
